Bipolar Disorder Treatment

By Kent Pinkerton Most people with bipolar disorder can be helped – but a psychiatrist or psychologist should first diagnose the disorder. Failure to diagnose and treat this disorder can prove fatal. Sometimes undiagnosed bipolar disorder patient end up in a psychiatric hospital or residential treatment centers and may attempt suicide. Children and teens with bipolar disorder do not usually show the same patterns of behavior as adults who have a similar condition. A mental health professional has to observe a teen’s behavior carefully before making a diagnosis. For treatment of this disorder a complete history of the person’s past and present experiences is very essential. Family members and friends should provide helpful insights into the person’s behavior, and the doctor may also want a teen to have a medical exam to rule out other conditions. Medication and psychotherapy are known to be effective treatments for bipolar disorder. Occasionally, doctors may also use electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Psychotherapy is often used simultaneously with medications. Detecting the patterns leading up to episodes of bipolar disorder and trying to identify triggers for these episodes is very important. Patterns may include use of medications or anything that happens physically or emotionally. Psychotherapy helps provide strategies for managing stress and coping with suspicions. Basic education about the nature of the disorder also helps to understand ones behavior. Doctors may use electroconvulsive therapy for treatment mainly for people who may have episodes of depression associated with suicidal tendencies or in people whose medication has proved to be ineffective. In this treatment electrodes are taped to the patients head and he is anesthetized. After a muscle relaxant is injected, a small amount of electrical current is passed through the brain for less than a second. This current produces a brain seizure, but because of the muscle relaxants the body remains calm. This therapy profoundly affects the brains metabolism and blood flow to various areas of the brain is rejuvenated. This therapy is often highly effective in the treatment of bipolar disorders. Doctors sometimes use antidepressant medications to treat the depression associated with bipolar disorders. Additionally, taking medications as prescribed, reporting any changes in functions and participating in therapy are the keys to living a successful life. In addition to treatment, making a few lifestyle changes like reducing stress, eating well and getting enough sleep and exercise can help a person cope with this condition. Bipolar Disorder provides detailed information on Bipolar Disorder, Symptom of Bipolar Disorder, Teen Bipolar Disorder, Bipolar Disorder Treatment and more. Empty Those Calories!

By Kat Lively If a calorie falls into your mouth, does it make a difference? A bite of a mini candy bar here, and a taste there of a sample at the grocery store may not seem like much when you are eating, but do it enough and it adds up. You want to be careful not to taste test your way to weight gain, and consuming enough “empty” calories can contribute to that. Contrary to the term, an empty calorie does not refer to a food that is low in calories, but a caloric food with very little nutritional value. For example, a breakfast fruit bar and a candy bar may have the same number of calories, but where the fruit bar contains fiber and some vitamins and minerals essential to good nutrition, the candy bar may be completely sugar. You could consume one or the other for the same amount of calories to burn, but in the end which is healthier for you? Which food will provide you with more energy and health benefits throughout the day? Which food will be processed better to feed your body valuable nutrients, and which food will be processed immediately into fat? Some calories may be empty, but be assured they can be full of trouble. Foods high in empty calories may include some daily staple, but often they are classified as “junk” foods: Candy – Chocolate bars, hard candies, mints and gums Soft drinks – Sodas, flavored drinks with a low percentage of juice as opposed to sugar content White bread – Made with white flour, this starchy food has to be fortified to give the appearance of a healthy food White rice – High in starch and natural sugars Olios – Margarine, butter, shortening, and other spreads Alcohol – Beer, wine, and hard liquors Fast foods – Staples like hot dogs and burgers, French fries, fried chicken and other foods traditionally fried in fattening oils and olios For a proper, nutritious diet, foods such as the ones listed above should be avoided or severely limited. To improve eating habits and consume calories that will prove beneficial to your body, make thoughtful replacements. For a sweet snack, enjoy some fruit instead of candy. Try a whole grain bread for your sandwich, long grain rice or a green vegetable as a side instead of white rice, and water instead of soda. But what about spreads for your toast? Most jams and jellies could be considered empty calories as well for their high sugar contents. If you must have a spread, check labels to see what you are eating. A homemade apple butter may have more nutritional value than the squeezable bottle of grape jelly. Such substitutions add up in the long run, and you just may find that as the empty calories go away, so will the fat. What You Can Do To Save Money With Your Student Loans

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Craig_Thornburrow]Craig Thornburrow Anyone that has gone through college or has kids in college knows that it is pricey, which leads to many seeking out student loans. Just as with any type of loan, it is vital that you do your research to find the best student loans for your situation. Different loans will get you different amounts of money with various circumstances behind the loan. However, there are a few things you can do with any student loan to save money. With student loans, the interest rate is adjusted every July 1st making it difficult to know how much you really are going to have to owe when getting out of college. There is, however, a way to lock your interest rates to avoid having them raised after a certain period of time. By consolidating your interest rates you can have them permanently locked for the remainder of your studies. The next thing to look at to help you save money on your student loans is automatic payment. A lot of lenders will offer you incentives and reduced interest rates when you have your student loan payments automatically deducted from your account. The reason being is that you are guaranteeing the lender that you will be paying the loan on time and in full amount by giving them access to your account. This also makes it more convenient for you allowing you to avoid missing a payment. As noted above, it is vital that you research to find the loan that best fits your circumstances. There are several different types of loans with many different companies as well. Some may offer an option that is more intriguing than others, so you must do your research. By getting many bids and finding out what different companies offer, you will be able to find a student loan that best fits your current financial status. The most obvious way to save money with your loan is to be on time. The minute you are late with your payment the interest rates will go up and your credit will go down. If you do feel the pressure of making the payments on time, make sure to talk to the lender before getting too far behind to see if you can work out an arrangement of some sort. When going through the process of finding a student loan you may feel pressure and find that it is difficult to make a decision. The important thing is that you research and talk to many different companies to find the best fit. By doing so you should be able to find a student loan that best fits your financial situation at the time being. Craig Thornburrow is an Author and Business Owner. Long Leader and Dry Line – Flyfishing Strategy for Kamloops Area Lakes

By Dave Ouellette Using a long leader with a dry line is a most effective flyfishing strategy for rainbow trout in Kamloops area lakes especially while fishing a bloodworm or chironomid fly pattern. It took a long time for me to develop the patience and will to use a longer leader but when I did my success increased immensely. To most river fisherman or novice fly casters, anything over a 9 foot leader seems pretty long but it doesn’t come close to the 18′- 22′ long leaders that we use here in the trophy lakes. Many of the Kamloops area lakes such as Pass, Morgan, White, Peter Hope, Plateau, Knouff, Community, Sheridan and Island have very clear water that allows light to penetrate down to the 20′depth level and more. This allows allows for photosynthesis to take place, even at 20 feet, promoting vegetation growth and with it, water insect production, particularly the bloodworm and chironomid. It is at these depths that this food supply lingers and evolves until they are ready to rise through the water column to emerge as a flying adult. Even if there are not chironomids rising to the surface, the fish will still feed on them at or near the bottom. There are 2 primary challenges to overcome to be successful when fishing a dry line with a long leader in 20 feet of water… Casting and patience. Casting such a long leader, especially if there is a breeze can be frustrating at first but graduated practice will help you along. I recommend taking a few sessions to learn casting the long leader, perhaps starting with 12′ and increasing the length by about 2 feet at a time until you feel comfortable with the 20′ leader. Yes, you will get tangles and wind knots but it’s all part of the learning process. When retrieving, bring your line in as close as possible on the retrieve before recasting as you will have much more control in setting up the cast. On the back cast, one has to make sure the line and leader rollover behind you enough before starting the forward casting motion. A technique that worked for me was turning so that I was casting across my body rather than pointing my body to where I was casting. This way I could watch the backcast and time the forward motion more effectively with the leader rollover. It is also recommended to position one’s self with the breeze at your back or slightly to your side. It allows the forward cast to lay out much easier. The second obstacle is having the patience to wait for the fly to reach the full depth of the leader. Bloodworms and especially chironomids have very little lateral movement other that what a slight current may supply. It is important that one mimicks this action as close as possible. Casting and waiting 5-10 minutes while the fly reaches the bottom is not unusual before starting the slow retrieve. Another trick to help casting efficiency and wait time is to use a weighted fly and add an additional weight to the leader in the form of tiny split shot much like a dropper fly but without the fly. (In British Columbia the use of a dropper is prohibited… but you can fish with 2 lines when by yourself… go figure.) The added weight assists the casting motion and gets the fly down to the desired depth faster. If you need to add splitshot, add from the first tippet knot (about 4′-6′above the fly). Add more shot if required but not too much as you don’t want to make your line a weapon to self-inflict pain on one’s self during a foul cast. Unless you can find a strike indicator that unlocks itself or is easily removable, I would not suggest that you use one for fishing deeper than about 14′ if you are in a boat, or not longer than 10′if you are in a float tube or pontoon boat. It can be a tricky exercise to free the indicator and land the fish at the same time. You lose more fish that way. As mentioned above, chironomids and bloodworms have little lateral movement so one must fish with a dead slow retrieve. Many times these trophy rainbow trout will even hit on the dead hang. It doesn’t hurt to try dragging these imitations through marl, stirring the bottom ever-so-lightly, attracting bottom cruisers. I have caught many large fish using the above strategy and find it particularly effective during the summer doldrums when the trout are deep during the day and in the spring before the water begins to warm up and the insects haven’t started migrating to the surface yet. Give it a try. I’m sure that with some practice and patience you too will be catching more fish with a long leader and a dry line. Tight lines. While constructing over 200 wetland segement in the Southern Interior of BC, Dave managed to fish almost as many lakes and streams in his travels. Divorce and Debt

By J. Shannon Cavers As common sense and statistics tell us, the leading cause of marital discord is money. Therefore, it is not surprising that many times divorce inventories have more red numbers than black ones. Media sources often portray Hollywood stars of power couples divorcing. Included with the typical hype may be which party will get the mansion, vacation home, or car collection, but rarely is there any coverage about how the parties will divide debt. The hard truth is that debt, just like assets, are included in the community estate. No matter what your own moral compass may register regarding your and your spouses debt, Texas case law establishes rules that might surprise you. First, debt incurred during the marriage is presumed to be community debt. See Cockerham v. Cockerham, 527 S.W.2d 162, 171 (Tex. 1975). There must be a sufficient amount of evidence to rebut this presumption. Despite well established case law, Texas divorce decrees contain sections entitled Debt to Husband and Debt to Wife, which seemingly assign responsibility for each debt. These sections of the decree will identify each creditor, the account number, and account balance. At the close of the divorce proceedings, the divorced couple has a lengthy document called a final decree of divorce. The husband, wife, their attorneys, and the judge sign the final decree. Often times the parties order a certified copy of their divorce decree, throw it in a drawer or the safe deposit box, and rarely look at it again unless there are children and custody issues involved. It may be months or years later when the phone rings and one of the parties is greeted by the monotone utterances of a bill collector reading a script off the computer screen. The dialogue may go something like this: Bob the Bill Collector: This is Bob with XYZ Visa. Im calling because your account is 60 days past due, and I need to know when you plan to remit the past due amount and begin making payments. You: What are you talking about? Thats my exs account. Our divorce decree says so. I havent been married to him/her in over (whatever time frame)! Call that deadbeat for the money. Bob: Well, Mr. or Ms. So and So, that doesnt mean you dont owe the debt if your ex defaults. You: I have a certified court order signed by me, my ex, our attorneys, and the judge saying that I dont owe you anything for that account. That account is the exs problem. When you find him/her, let me know because he/she owes me money, too! Bob: Your divorce decree might say you arent responsible, but the law says you are. Why dont you give me a check by phone and we can get you on a payment plan. You: Are you dense?! Did you hear anything I just said?! Im not responsible and Im not paying you one red cent on any of that debt. Call the ex but stop hounding me! Bob: Mr. or Ms. So and So, I did hear you, and youre wrong. No matter what your divorce decree says, you owe XYZ Visa. If you dont begin making payments, XYZ Visa will report this delinquent account to the credit reporting agencies, and take action up to and including litigation. Ill let you fill in the closing dialogue for yourself. You are angry and hang up the phone. You may think that Bob, located at some call center hundreds of miles away, has no idea what hes talking about. As unsettling as it may be, Bob is right. Unless the XYZ Visa was a party to your divorce suit and agreed to the terms of the final decree, you owe the money. It is highly unusual for a husband and wife or their attorneys to implead creditors into divorce actions due to complex legal issues such as jurisdiction and venue on both the state and federal level. To understand how you could possibly be responsible for debt assigned to your ex, you must rewind to the point in time when the credit account was opened. You will need to look at the original account agreement. Almost no one keeps those documents, so order a copy of your credit report from one of the big three credit reporting agencies (EquiFax, Experian, or TransUnion). If the account shows up on your report, then you were more than likely a party to the credit agreement. Despite how the divorce decree allocates the debts (both secured and unsecured), the Court has no authority to modify the contractual obligations between the spouses and the creditor. To say it another way, the court cannot take away the creditors right to proceed against either spouse(s) for payment of a community debt that was incurred prior to the decree. See Blake v. Amoco Fed. Credit Union, 900 S.W.2d 108 (Tex. App. Houston [14th Dist.] 1995, no writ). Lets presume the account was originally opened in both your names and the creditor was looking to both you and your spouses income and assets to repay the obligation. This means that you are both responsible for the debt. But what about the divorce decree that spells out which assets and liabilities you and your ex were assigned? Is it a worthless piece of paper? No. You will not be able to file a motion to enforce the divorce decree to get the defaulting spouse to pay the debt. An enforcement action will only assist if there was specific property, such as a vehicle, brokerage account, or personal property, the other spouse failed to turn over. But what about the debt? All is not lost. You could file an action for breach of contract against the defaulting spouse. The divorce decree is a binding contract that both parties voluntarily signed before the court. If your ex has defaulted on one or multiple obligations, a suit for breach of contract may be cold comfort. As the old saying goes, you cant squeeze blood from a turnip. Nevertheless, if you pursue this option, your damages may include any money you agreed to pay the creditor to keep the account out of collections, interest, and other miscellaneous expenses, such as attorneys fees if any are incurred. Depending on the size of the debt that the defaulting party hasnt paid, you could seek relief in small claims court. Texas small claims courts have jurisdiction from $0.01 up to $5,000.00. These courts are designed for individuals who want to represent themselves and avoid hiring an attorney. This is where people go to argue the do right law. However, if the amount in controversy is greater than $5,000.00, then you must file suit in a county court, county court at law, or a district court with jurisdiction over the matter. At this point, you may consider hiring an attorney to prosecute the claim if theres a reasonable possibility you could collect from the defaulting spouse. If possible, never let things get to this point by utilizing some of the suggestions outlined below. Before you go to court or sign the final decree of divorce, you should research each and every account that the decree references no matter if that account falls under the Husband or Wife section. You both need to be aware how the accounts were established, and who and what the creditor deems liable. It may be in your best interests to refinance jointly held debt and establish the debt in each individuals name if that is possible. If you or your spouses credit score is not strong enough to take this route, then you may consider liquidating assets to repay the debt before the divorce is final and close the account. It will be cold comfort to pay off a debt only to find out that your ex ran up a bunch of charges. A method may be to sell a car, a house, real property, or take a 401-K loan prior to finalizing the divorce to pay off debt. Because a mortgage and car loan can have long terms of payments, it may behoove you to sell those assets and let the other party acquire them on his or her own credit. By paying off those assets, those will no longer appear as debts on your credit report or create potential future problems if the other party fails to make payments to the creditor. After your divorce is final, you may consider taking these actions: 1. Closing all joint accounts with a low balance or zero balance. 2. Request a credit report from one of the big three credit reporting agencies 90 days after the divorce is final. Look for any errors or discrepancies and aggressively challenge them in writing. 3. Ask each creditor to send you a duplicate notice for the joint accounts even if the ex was assigned this account. Monitor to ensure that payments are being made on a regular, timely basis. 4. Make an offer for accord and satisfaction basically, offer the creditor an amount of money in exchange for a release of your liability on the account assigned to your ex. 5. Communicate with the big three credit reporting agencies to notify them of the divorce and any name changes. 6. Create a debt reduction plan. There are many excellent resources available, such as Consumer Credit Counseling Services, Dave Ramsey, or a church based debt reduction plan. Bottom line your credit score is an asset just like your home or car. In fact, if you dont have a good credit score, your ability to obtain consumer or business financing may be extremely limited. How To Create A Burning Desire To Buy With Your Small Business Marketing

By Charlie Cook You could be generating 50% to 100% more sales with your marketing. How? By working with basic human nature to convert more of your prospects to customers. Each week 100 or 1000 people visit your web site or read your small business marketing materials but only a handful of those are contacting you. You can double the number of people who buy your products and services and double your profits. The biggest mistake made by small business owners is that they treat marketing as if it didn’t need to follow basic rules of human nature. It’s like trying to force feed broccoli to someone who hates vegetables or trying to get a vegetarian to eat roast beef. Similarly, it just doesn’t make sense to try and force your prospects to do something they don’t want to do. I’m amazed at how many people throw away huge sums of money on a marketing strategy that continually frustrates them and doesn’t bring in the sales they need to grow their business. Here’s the simple truth about small business marketing. If you want to sell to people you need to take into account basic characteristics of human nature. You can’t just get your name out there or get the name of your product out there and expect clients to flock to your door. This marketing strategy doesn’t work for small business owners and it won’t work for you. The good news is that it’s not complicated or confusing to market your business successfully and close twice as many sales. All you need to do is understand a couple of obvious things about human nature and apply them to marketing your business. Effective Marketing Is Based On These 3 Rules of Human Nature —————————————————- > First Rule Of Human Nature: People are attracted by solutions to their problems Your prospects want to know what your product or service will do for them. They want to know if it will help them solve a particular problem. Your marketing should lead with the product benefit and then go on to explain more about how your products or services help them and youll capture their interest. Lead with pricing, obscure product names or too much technical detail and you’ll l0se your prospects. Their overriding concern is how your products or services will help them. > The Second Rule Of Human Nature: People forget Think about your own purchasing behavior. What do you do when youre looking for a new computer, a new lawyer, a new investment, or a new graphic designer? You may have seen an ad that attracted you or visited a web site that looked helpful, but can you remember where? Most people take some time to make their decision, often weeks or even months. Even if they’ve read your marketing materials and even if you’ve got the perfect product or service for them, your prospects are most likely going to forget you exist. 80% of potential new business is lost because small business owners don’t have a marketing strategy for following up with prospects. Each time your prospects hear or read about another similar service or product your information gets pushed further down into the recesses of their brain. Eventually it just gets forgotten and you’ve lost the sale unless you have a strategy that helps them remember your products and services. > Third Rule of Human Nature: People want to be confident they are making the right decision Whether you’re buying a new car, a new computer or l.egal or financial services, you want to know that when you make your purchase you’ll be satisfied with the products or services you buy. Your prospects are the same. So how do you help them trust you and your products and services? Give them proof! Prospects want to know if your products or services worked for others and if they’ll work for them. When you use referrals, testimonials and ‘test drives’ you provide proof that helps them feel confident in making their purchase. Common Sense Small Business Marketing It’s common sense to base your marketing on these three rules of human nature. If you want to increase your sales, you need to give people the information they want and need to buy from you. 2006 In Mind Communications, LLC. Capturing The Moment

By Stephen W. Gardner There’s nothing like settling back for a cozy evening of reminiscences with your wedding album. The temptation to have a family friend or a relative record your wedding day as a cost-cutting measure is one that should be dismissed right here and now. Your wedding will be over in the blink of an eye, but the memories captured by a professional photographer will last a lifetime and will be cherished forever by your children and grandchildren. Like all other aspects of planning a wedding, shopping around for prices is a must. However, the best photographers are not always the most affordable and they’re always the busiest. Booking early and budgeting, as always, are certainly called for in this case. The best way to begin shopping is to ask recently married acquaintances if you may view their wedding album. Word-of-mouth is still very powerful advertising. Note the phone numbers and, if you feel comfortable enough with that person, ask the price they paid for their photography. Contact the photographer for an appointment. Any professional will be more than happy to meet with you and show you photos, slides and albums from weddings they’ve covered in the past and spend a good deal of time finding out what you wish for as a final product and how much money you’ve got to spend. It is very important that you “like” your photographer as a person for many reasons. If you stop and think about it, your photographer is going to have more access to the bride and groom during even the most intimate moments of your wedding day than any other single person involved in the event! The photographer will be taking pictures of the bride getting dressed; he/she’ll be right beside you when you exchange rings; let’s move in for a close-up shot of your first kiss! If you’re going to have someone around every step of the way, you’d better make sure your photographer is someone you like and trust, because otherwise the possibility exists that your day could be ruined by an intrusive presence. Many of the larger studios, even those listed under the owner’s or principal photographer’s name (i.e. “John Smith Photography”) may have several or even many photographers in their employ in order to cover more than one event simultaneously. These photographers are trained to shoot in the style and custom of the photo artist. Therefore, you can probably rest assured that you’ll get what you see after you peruse their portfolios. However, it would be most important to request an interview with the photographer who’ll actually be shooting your film. You might love the studio’s photographic style and the person who plans your photographs, but you could wind up with a hired hand on your wedding day with whom you’re not compatible. Here are some of the other things you need to think about when meeting with photographers and planning your wedding portraits and album. FORMALS Formal shots of the bride in her wedding gown (or as is more and more the case nowadays, shots of both the bride and groom) are your most important photographic souvenir. These photos can be arranged any time before the wedding to allow for careful planning and a relaxed atmosphere. These are the photographs from which you’ll choose your wedding portrait for display in your home and the photograph for publication in your local newspaper. You must decide on a studio setting/backdrop or a “remote” location (somewhere, outside or inside, other than the photographer’s studio). Flexible schedules for all concerned are a must for an outdoor shot. BLACK & WHITE OR COLOR? This is not the big decision it once was. Today, all color negatives can be printed in both color OR black & white! There is a timelessness to black and white reproduction that recalls days gone by and a sense of elegance in the photographic arts. This element is essential as at least a portion of your wedding album. You can either choose later which photographs you’d like printed in black and white, or you can set aside a certain amount of shots for “true” black and white studies. (In other words, the use of black and white film and techniques for certain special shots or poses.) CEREMONY, RECEPTION AND CANDID PHOTOS This group of photographs begins with preparations for the ceremony at the bride’s home, continues at the ceremony itself, and covers the reception from formals at a park or other location right through till the last guest departs. Careful planning will guarantee you all the shots you’ll desire and give the photographer plenty of time to get everything on film. Leave enough time before departure to the ceremony for posed shots. Get ready early and leave about an hour from the time the photographer arrives until it’s time to go. If you don’t give him enough time, you may miss out on many of the shots and poses for which you’ll wish you’d taken the time to shoot later on. Allot plenty of time between the ceremony and your arrival at the reception for “formals”. These formals differ from the portraits taken in advance in that they actually are taken on the day of the wedding itself, but are posed shots and will be the most elegant memento of your actual wedding day. Pick out your location long in advance, and if you decide on an outdoor location, make alternate plans for indoor shooting in the event of inclement weather. Your photographer will know of many locations, both indoors and outdoors, for great formals. Sometimes posing for formals can get a little tedious at such an exciting time, but bear with it and take direction from your photographer. Keep your wedding party “under control” until the formals are finished. Remember, these will be the most important photos of the day and there will be plenty of time to party later on! Decide in advance how long you’d like the photographer to be present and make sure the coverage you desire is included in your photography package. Many photographers will exit the reception early unless arrangements are made in advance, but that can work to your advantage if price is a concern. Most professionals have packages available to fit smaller budgets. Photographs are your best record of your special day, from nervous bride preparing at the house, to the exchange of rings and first kiss, to the fun and partying at your reception. And in addition to being your most “portable” memento, they are your most economical when distributing souvenirs of the wedding to your family and friends. Making Herbal Remedies – What is a Decoction?

By Mary Welty Making herbal remedies isn’t difficult or complicated, its just made to seem that way. If you can boil water, you can make your own tinctures, infusions or decoctions. In this article we will discuss decoctions, what are they, how are they prepared, and examples of common decoctions. Simply put, a decoction is your basic infusion juiced up to induce stubborn roots, barks and resins to release their medicinal properties. While most plants will yield their properties to cold or boiling hot water in a matter of minutes, some require a much longer period of time, say 30 minutes or more. While occasionally a whole plant with stem, twig, flower, leaf and bud is used for special preventive effects, usually only one part of a plant is used at one time. Examples of herbs that work best in a decoction would include: Elm Bark, used for herpes, scurf, itch and other skin problems Comfrey Root, the decoction makes for a good gargle and mouthwash for throat inflammations, hoarseness and bleeding gums* Flaxseed, this decoction can be used for cough, chest and lung problems. Remember to use only ripe seeds as the immature seedpods can cause poisoning. English Oak Bark, a decoction of the bark can be used internally or externally for hemorrhoids and other rectal problems, menstrual problems and blood in the urine. Preparing A Decoction: Fresh herbs should be sliced; dry herbs should be powered or well bruised. A decoction should always be strained when it is hot so that the matter, which separates upon cooling, can be mixed again with the fluid by shaking when the remedy is used. When preparing your decoction use glass, ceramic or earthenware pots. Do not use plain cast iron with astringent plants. Use 1 ounce (30 g) of dried root or bark to just over a pint of water. Allow this to boil for at least ten minutes or longer. The mixture then steeps with a cover on the pot for an additional 3 to 4 minutes. Strain out the plant parts before drinking. Warning: The FDA has determined that Comfrey can lead to Pyrrolizidine alkaloid poisoning which causes a liver disorder in humans called hepatic veno-occlusive disease. The small and medium veins in the liver become obstructed, eventually leading to liver disfunction, cirrhosis and death. While only 2 deaths attributed to Comfrey have been documented, due caution is indicated. By Ian Henman Sauna benefits and steam bath benefits are great, and that is why more and more people are regularly using them. And with the advent of home saunas and portable saunas, it has now no doubt become easier to leverage the sauna benefits for all. Almost all forms of natural nourishments giving way to processed food today, toxic elements are silently taking their place in vital body organs, giving rise to various ailments, hitherto unknown to human race. Sauna benefits can fight this. A person may be able to control the conditions with medication, but unless the body is thoroughly detoxified, the root of evil remains. Sauna benefits do exactly this. As we all know, the human skin with its multitude of tiny pores is the largest opening for removal of unwanted and harmful substances. But to induce the body to do so, you require external help. Sauna benefits do this expertly, through different versions like Traditional, Hot rock & water and Infrared saunas. Sauna benefits can be derived from all of these. But which of the above will you select to achieve the maximum sauna benefits? This decision is based on personal choice and environmental conditions. Now let us see how exactly the sauna benefits are achieved. All types of saunas create a vestibule of heated air that is between 110 degree to 120 degree Celsius. This heat is actually what leads to sauna benefits. In the case of Far Infrared Heat Emitters, the Infrared waves are directed towards the body this is the only exception. Sauna benefits start to accrue when the heat makes the body sweat. And with this sweat comes out the harmful toxic materials that have found a way to the human body. Sustained exposure leads to sauna benefits in the curing of Arthritis, Eczema, Psoriasis, Yeast infection, Cellulites and also in cardiac problems. Sauna benefits have also been seen in weight loss. Sauna benefits happen through heat that relieves pain by enlarging the blood vessels and increasing circulation. Improved circulation means more oxygen-rich blood reaching the muscles and tissues. And this is what reduces the pain and heals injuries. There is another very interesting way sauna benefits the body. Because of the generated heat, the body believes that a fever has set in and thus the precautionary measures are turned on. The body goes on guard to viruses and other malevolent agents as in a normal fever. Thus, sauna benefits by activating the immune system as well. There are many who are not that well aware on the various sauna benefits. But they still want a sauna. This is mainly because a sauna experience is very relaxing.
